GhostBed 3D Matrix vs Tuft & Needle Nod

The GhostBed 3D Matrix is a 5.5 to 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale (10 = too hard, 0 = too soft). The feel is slightly softer than the GhostBed and similar to the Flex.

The Nod mattress offers a medium firmness, so it's perfectly in the middle in terms of feel. It's soft to the touch, but very supportive when you lay out on the surface as it responds to your weight.

The new 13" GhostBed 3D Matrix hybrid mattress has patented 3D Matrix Technology. This exclusive Gel Polymer layer scientifically adjusts to your individual body shape and temperature. The mattress is a seven layer construction:

Exclusive to Amazon, the Nod is 100% polyurethane foam and not comprised of their proprietary T&N Adaptive foam. It has 2 layers of construction:

• 2.5" Comfort Layer of Responsive Foam
• 5.5" Supportive Base Layer.

3D Matrix Polymer Layer offers 3 dimensions of comfort:

• The 3D Matrix layer is an integrated thermal conductive gel polymer. As excess heat accumulates under and around the sleeper, it is absorbed into 3D Matrix layer. As a fully connected sheet, that absorbed heat travels away from the sleeper.
• Conventional Foam layers comfort you by compressing as different parts of the body "press" on the foam. The 3D Matrix layer is an omni directional layer which stretches in all directions to mold and contour to each individual part of the sleeper's body.
• The 3D Matrix layer is ergonomically designed which allows the sleeper to sleep on the mattress, NOT in it.

The foam used in the Nod mattress is an open-celled polyurethane foam that we engineered to have the benefits of memory foam's pressure relief and latex's support, without their drawbacks (like memory foam's sinking and sleeping hot, and latex's lack of pressure relief). That said, both memory and synthetic latex foams are subsets of polyurethane foam.

The core of the GhostBed 3D Matrix features the patented Ghost 3D Matrix innerspring coil unit with our Spirited Edge™ support Design. With two rows of specially reinforced coils along the edge of the bed make it easier to sit comfortably without slipping off the edge plus you can sleep right on the edge without feeling like you'll fall off.

The GhostBed 3D Matrix Mattress features the exciting new 3D Matrix technology. This new comfort layer technology is revolutionary because it automatically bio-adjusts to two different body shapes and body temperatures at the same time, creating the ideal sleeping environment for both sleepers. The 3D Matrix layer automatically bio-adjusts to both sleep partners through simultaneous heat diffusion and weight distribution - two critical elements in sound sleep. The 3D Matrix allows excess heat is drawn away from the body. The Gel Polymer layer stretches in all directions conforming to the body without causing it to sink into the mattress.
Gel-infused Memory Foam absorbs and dissipates body heat as fresh air passes through the foam.

We chose an open-cell foam which allows air to freely flow throughout the night, overcoming foam's reputation for sleeping hot.

The 3D Matrix ensures body weight is distributed evenly, relieving pressure and reducing the body's need to reposition itself, allowing each sleeper to wake up well rested, free of aches and pains, and energized to embrace the coming day.
Ghost 3D Matrix Soft Transition Foam is one inch of pure pressure relief. This layer contours to your body and reduces the need to toss and turn.
Individually wrapped coils provide that sturdy, responsive support of traditional innerspring mattresses you're used to.

We designed our top layer to be adaptive without feeling like quicksand - cradling your pressure points and meeting you where you are.

Featuring the same cover used in other GhostBed models, the cover contains a proprietary formulation developed in Japan where cooling properties are woven directly into the fibers of the yarn, creating the Ghost Ice Fabric. The Ghost Ice Fabric is instantly cool to the touch, and will absorb and trap heat that is released by the body. Molecular changes in the fabric will neutralize the heat, keeping the sleeping surface cool.

The Nod Mattress cover is a viscose/polyester blend.
